Making their comeback to the Joshua Tree Music Festival, The Clunks (clown/monks) present Clunk Comedy Club, where you become the comedian. Using ancient secret technology we will activate our inner comedians and play some silly improv games too. Come laugh with ourselves!

Flowbox Playtime – SUN 1pm

Flowbox began as all great things do: as just a dream. In 2010, a small collective of unconventional youth started gathering on occasion to practice dance, flow and object manipulation together. They dreamed of creating a performance group to share their skills.

A recent transplant from Delaware and founder Jenna H2O, took a bold step toward turning the group’s dream into a reality. She rented a warehouse space in Palm Springs that was dubbed “The Flowbox.” The goal was to create a fun, healthy, inclusive community space for learning and performing.

Shortly after, Chelsea Sphere, a hula-hooper and native of the desert, joined the group and worked tirelessly alongside Jenna to train. Both of them passionately believed in the power of storytelling through movement and its ability to transcend language and culture. Jenna and Chelsea, alongside a rotating group of artists and outsiders, created and hosted underground circus shows at the warehouse for $5 suggested donations at the door. They hand-made their early costumes and performed at local events, mostly for free at first to get their name out.

Though the beginnings were humble, Flowbox has since gone on to become a thriving circus entertainment company, the only one of its kind in the greater Palm Springs area. They have produced entertainment for and taught workshops at events all around the country. They even got the opportunity to be the opening act for Snoop Dogg and Slightly Stoopid. While Flowbox is fluid and ever-evolving, the mission remains the same: to make the world a better place with flow and performance art!

Craft a boutonniere alongside the Soft Clowns, color with local lovely artist, P, or delve into the mysteries of your fortune with Terentauri and his tarot-reading Roadrunner. Join Lynn Crounse, our cherished desert witch, as she guides you in creating a soothing creosote salve.

Hailing from the sun-drenched landscapes of Southern California, the Soft Clowns are a pratfall of professional performance artists. Each character brings an individual story to the not so tall-tale of the Soft Desert Clowns, a fantastical creation dreamed up by none other than a local clown named George. With hearts as light as the desert breeze and spirits as playful as the shifting sands, the Soft Clowns weave a tapestry of intentional interactions, curated with live, purposeful, and participatory installations of silliness, thought, and outright nonsense. With you, as our live audience, we strive to elevate, inspire and invite each individual to live the narrative of the clown! Not only do we entertain, but we encourage all to embark on a journey of self-discovery, learning how to embody the art we wish to see in this world. So, step right up, and join the Soft Clowns on a whimsical odyssey through the corridors of your own imagination.
