Eclectic, bluesy and psychedelic only begin to describe the sound of Giselle Woo & The Night Owls, a rock band from the Coachella Valley who call their sound Chicano desert rock. Fronted by Coachella Valley native, Giselle Woo, the band combines a cross section of styles, incorporating the spacey guitar riffs of desert rock with raw yet melodic vocals that swing between English and Spanish. In addition to Woo on vocals and rhythm guitar, the Night Owls are Christian Colin on lead guitar, Marco Murietta on bass and José Ceja on drums. Formed in 2018, the band who plays regularly around the Greater Palm Springs area performed at the Joshua Tree Music Festival, then at Chella the following year before being invited to perform at the twice-postponed Coachella. We witnessed their set at Coachella this year (along with many others), and their set was truly a stand-out performance. They gained notoriety for their single “Coachella Gold,” released on an EP in 2019. In early 2022, Giselle Woo & the Night Owls released their first full length album entitled “Everything.” Giselle will also be a part of the Songwriters Session on Sunday, May 21, on the Boogaloo backstage, with Nigel Roman and Mikey Reyes.
