Info, safety measures, FAQ

All the info you need to know about attending this year's event.

Connecting Responsibly

We are so excited to gather at the Joshua Tree Music Festival site this Spring for the inaugural BaHOOTenzie SongSchool & FolkFest.  We want you to feel safe and supported so you can have an enjoyable experience. Ticket sales are limited to 500 persons max, in a venue that is suitable for up to 2500. So, there is plenty of space to enjoy the show comfortably, under shade cloth, in an open-air environment.

We don’t know what the Covid climate will be in May, but at this point, we can say that we MIGHT be implementing some Covid safety protocols, such as:

  • Requirement of negative COVID test to attend (within 48 hours of arrival, whether vaccinated or not)
  • All attendees will complete a health questionnaire ahead of time, then again at the gate
  • Mask requirement in high density areas

We feel this is the best protocol we can put in place as things currently stand. We expect this information may change as we get closer, we’ll do our very best to notify you of any changes.

Continue to check this page for updates as we approach the event dates for specific policies and requirements for attendance. (Page last updated: 2/22/2021)

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ATTENDEES

As of right now (2/22/22), there are no covid safety measures required (vax, neg. tests, masks), but this could change if the Covid Climate takes a negative turn between now and the event.

WE DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

  • Practicing COVID precautions in the 2 weeks leading up to the event – (limiting risk of exposure, wearing a mask, washing your hands etc.). Getting turned away at the gate because you have COVID is going to suck, let’s do everything we can to avoid that!
  • Getting a COVID test ahead of time. There are plenty of locations to get free COVID testing, you can find a list of local ones HERE under Testing Resources.
  • Getting a COVID test 72 hours after the event – Especially if you live or interact with any immunocompromised or at-risk humans. Monitor your health and be mindful of your interaction with others until you know you’re in the clear.

SAFETY MEASURES

The BaHOOTenzie team will follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines in place, as well as any additional protocol that we deem appropriate at the time of the event. Continue to check this space for updates as we approach the event dates for specific policies and requirements for attendance.

SAFETY MEASURES WE WILL BE IMPLEMENTING INCLUDE:

  • Reduced number of attendees
  • Streamlined will call process to allow everyone space
  • Sanitation stations around the site
  • Added sanitation procedures for high touch points
  • Masks available
  • “Give me space” wristband for those that want to maintain social distance throughout the festival
  • Additional signage with all the info you need!

ADDITIONAL POLICIES MAY BE IMPLEMENTED BASED ON STATE/COUNTY/CDC GUIDELINES AS THEY EVOLVE. THESE MAY INCLUDE:

  • Social distancing protocols
  • Spacing in community areas
  • Restrictions on food and beverage service
  • Regulating the flow of attendees in high traffic areas

If you have any specific questions about health and safety protocol, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at love@joshuatreemusicfestival.com.

WHAT IF I FEEL SICK BEFORE/DURING THE EVENT?

We ask all attendees to monitor their health before and during the event.

  • Fever of 100 degrees
  • New cough or shortness of breath

MASKS, HUGS AND STUFF.

DO I NEED TO WEAR A MASK: We are extremely grateful to have plenty of OPEN SPACE to enjoy. We do not anticipate needing to require masks, however this may change if advised by county, state or CDC guidelines. That said, if you want to wear a mask, wear a mask. We will not tolerate bullying anyone because of their choice (or bullying of any kind), we are all in this together.

I NEED HUMAN CONTACT, WHAT ABOUT HUGS? We get it, we’ve all been hug starved for over a year! Please be mindful of people’s space, ask first (you should anyway) and remember anything but a verbal enthusiastic yes is a no. We will have “give me space” wristbands available at production for those wishing  to maintain social distance.

SPACE INVADERS: If you want to cozy up in someone else’s space – whether in the campground or on the dance floor – ask first. Consent is sexy, considerate people are sexy and you’re all sexy people.

SITE INFORMATION

BE PREPARED: Temperatures can be erratic to say the least. In May, the average high is 93, low is 71. In October it’s 84 and 56 respectively. Come prepared for anything. Bring shade for camp, hats, umbrellas, water, and sunscreen. Wind does blow through so remember to adequately stake things down; rebar and sandbags work great. EZ-Ups fly away easily – If you MUST bring an EZ Up, please make sure it is staked securely with rebar or similar, if it is not secured properly we may ask you to take it down.

ACCESSIBILITY: There are handicap spaces reserved in both day parking lot and car camping in the campground that are closest to festival entrance gates. If you have further accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us at love@joshuatreemusicfestival.com.

AMENITIES:

  • Free filtered water for festival attendees is available in the music bowl and campground . Please bring your own refillable containers!
  • WIFI is available for a daily fee thanks to Mojave Wifi.

PLEASE RESPECT THE WILDLIFE: Swimming in the lake is for the ducks and fishies only. No humans, no trash – you wouldn’t want trash floating in your home! If you see a snake, leave it alone. If you think it may cause an issue, please report it to the Rangers. Lizards, birds and critters – this is their home first, leave them be.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED? You may smoke at your campsite, please be mindful of your neighbors and don’t litter your butts! Within the site, there is no smoking in the Music Bowl or Boogaloo area. Look for our designated smoking areas and be mindful of/ask those around you.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN TENT? You sure do! Please bring your own structure to camp in. Space can be limited so please be mindful of your footprint. If you’re travelling a distance and don’t want to haul your gear, our friends Joshua Tree Outfitters have camping set ups to rent locally.

CAN I BRING AN RV? Yes. Please make sure you make the appropriate reservation through the Joshua Tree Lake RV & Campground.

AMPLIFIED MUSIC: Please no sound systems or live amplified music in the campground. Be considerate of all your neighbors – there are general public and permanent residents in the campground. If noise from your campsite is bothering your neighbors, you’ll be asked to turn it down. If multiple complaints are received about your party, the Campground reserves the right to confiscate equipment and/or ask campers to leave.

GENERATORS: Use of whisper quiet generators is permitted between 8am & 10pm. Please be conscious of placement and hours of use and consider your neighbors/friends. We may ask you to turn your generator off or limit use if it is being disruptive to others.

EZ UPS/SHADE STRUCTURES: We regularly experience winds in the desert that EZ Ups are not built to withstand, they can break and turn into hazards. Please ensure any shade structures are secured properly with rebar or similar. We may ask you to drop shade structures/EZ ups if not secured properly or during high winds

FIRES: Wood fires are allowed only in the metal fire ring barrels if there is not currently a fire ban. It is crucial that fires are extinguished completely before you leave the fire ring. High winds can occur without warning & carry embers.
