Rags took his name from the poet W.B .Yeats who wrote that true art does not show up in ribbons and bows, but can be found in “the foul rag and bone shop of the heart.” His mythopoetic songs are in the poet/songwriter tradition of those he calls his mentors-in-absentia: Dylan, Cohen and Waits. Before Covid, he lived in his beloved Scamp trailer touring the West. Today you’ll find him stringing verses together and sinking roots on California’s Central Coast. This will be a homecoming show for Rags, as he was a Joshua Tree denizen not so long ago.
