Music • Comedy • Storytelling. Join us on the syndicated NPR variety program. Hosted from the piano by JP, with his wife Julie Van Dusen. The pair are joined by singers, comedians, and storytellers each week. JP and Julie are a riotously dynamic duo, and their Songbook shows are compelling. JP Houston is a singer-songwriter, producer, and storyteller. His performances have conjured comparisons to piano greats like Elton John, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, and Billy Joel. His humor and storytelling have been compared to Jean Shepherd and Will Rogers. Houston has toured and recorded all over North America and Europe, sharing the stage or studio with Weezer side project The Relationship, Victoria Williams, Leon Russel, Kyuss, Gram Rabbit, The Nymphets, Glen Hansard, and host of other notable artists. In 2014, JP began his syndicated NPR show American Parlor Songbook. Weekly episodes feature JP’s original songs and stories. In addition to his touring and recording, he has an extensive catalog of material written for HBO, BBC, PBS, CBC, and a host of other major networks, including a Canadian Emmy Nomination.
