• FESTIVAL INFO •

Our family of funsters has grown organically since the inaugural JTMF took place on April 11-13, 2003. Whether it’s your first JTMF or your 20th, we look forward to welcoming you twice a year, each May and October in the magical Mojave desert! Read more about JTMF here.

FUN FACTS

YES, IT’S FAMILY FRIENDLY!  We truly cater to families. Kidsville is action packed, discounted/free entry for kids depending on age, there’s a family camp section in the campground, and lots of ‘eyes and ears’ keeping things safe for all.

FREE RANGE HUMANS: No huge crowds keeping you from getting right up front into the action, no special wristband needed to enter the ‘backstage’ area. The Joshua Tree Music Festival is intimate and inclusive and we like our humans free range!

IT HAPPENS TWICE A YEAR! There are two opportunities to join us in the desert each year, the Joshua Tree Music Festival happens each May and October.

CONTINUOUS LIVE MUSIC: Music acts alternate between two stages throughout the weekend so music is continuous and you don’t miss any bands. No running around trying to figure out who to see when.

RESOURCES

DANCESAFE: We are honored to partner with DanceSafe. This wonderful non-profit organization shares resources and education with festival attendees about substances, sexual health, consent and more.  You can find DanceSafe in the campground adjacent to Medical & Rangers near the shower trailer.

DanceSafe is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization. They provide free services, supplies and education tens of thousands of festival patrons each year. Support their work with a tax-deductible donation.

Visit their website for educational and substance testing resources.

MEDICAL: You can find Medical in the campground adjacent to Rangers and DanceSafe. It is staffed 24/7 during the event.

FAMILY CAMP: For families with children, located in the NW corner of the campground. This is a quiet zone after dark, and kids like to make noise in the morning. So if that doesn’t sound like your style, there are acres of other camping space where you can find your tribe.

PHOTO/VIDEO POLICY

By attending Joshua Tree Music Festival you consent to being filmed and or photographed, whereas your image, voice, and likeness may be used by the Festival for promotional purposes.

All photographers using professional equipment (ie DSLR / anything with a detachable lenses) are required to have media credentials to take pictures or video at the Festival.
Attendees may take photos and shoot video for personal, non-commercial use, with personal cameras (excluding SLR/DSLRs) as long as they are not standing in the press area, obstructing views, using any sort of device like a tripod or selfie-stick.

DRONE use is prohibited without specific written permission from the Festival. Please keep them packed away, if we see you using it, we may confiscate it and hold it for the remainder of the event.

More detailed information can be found in our terms and conditions.

SERVICE ANIMAL POLICY

Please review this information carefully if you are bringing a service animal to Joshua Tree Music Festival. The policy and procedure will be strictly enforced for the safety of our guests and legitimate service animals. Those who bring their non-service animals to the festival will be given the option to situate their animal elsewhere and return or leave the festival site without refund. Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal. We appreciate your cooperation as we host a safe event for all!

Policy: Service animals are permitted throughout the venue. NO emotional support animals, therapy animals, or companion animals. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the definition of “service animal” is limited to a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability who is in attendance. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. Under the ADA, “comfort,” “therapy,” or “emotional support animals” do not meet the definition of a service animal and therefore are not permitted at the event.

Service animals must be housebroken and under the direct control of their handler at all times. Service animals should be leashed, harnessed or tethered. If these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. If any handler does not adhere to these conditions, the handler will be asked to remove the animal from the site. The handler then may return without the animal.

Procedure: Service animals will need to be checked in at the Box Office. We will assign your animal a service animal wristband, have you sign a Service Animal Agreement, take a photo with the animal, and get your contact information should you and your animal get separated. Service animal wristband should remain visible on collar or be able to be provided upon request and verified at any time during the event.

Local Pet Boarding: We kindly ask that you leave all other animals at home as they will be denied. Please do not leave animals in cars or RVs all weekend. We highly recommend our friends at Joshua Tree Pet Resort for local pet boarding. There are also several other services locally and in the Palm Springs area.

ACCESSIBILITY

ACCESSIBLE PARKING: There are accessible parking spaces reserved in both day parking lot and car camping in the campground that are closest to festival entrance gates.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE?

PREPAREDNESS IS KEY: Despite historically beautiful weather, it’s important to be prepared for the sun, wind, cold and even rain! Temperatures in May average a high of 93* and a low of 71 while October averages a high of 84* and a low of 56*.This doesn’t mean October can’t be hotter than May though (we’re looking at you Oct ’24). A 20*-30* temperature shift can feel pretty drastic. Plan ahead! Bring layers (funky & fine as well as some practical items), hats (daytime/nighttime), bandanas, an umbrella, water, sunscreen and shade for your camp. Wind does blow through so remember to thoughtfully stake things down: rebar and sandbags work great. EZ-UPS fly away really EASY – If you MUST bring one, make sure to stake it down properly and be prepared to remove the canopy in the event of wind. If it is not secured properly we will ask you to take it down.

CAMPGROUND AMENITIES

  • Hot showers are free from 8am to 8pm each day, cool down shower station available around the clock.

  • WIFI free basic wifi is available courtesy of Mojave Wifi.

SMOKING: You may smoke at your campsite, however please be mindful of your neighbors and properly dispose of your cigarette butts! Within the festival grounds there is NO SMOKING in the Music Bowl, Boogaloo, or the entire Lake area. There is a designated smoking area just East of the Boogaloo called the Dance Music Therapy Lounge. When smoking, please be mindful of/ask those around you (consent!).

CAMP STOVES: You may bring white gas/propane camp stoves, charcoal grills or open flames are NOT allowed.

WRISTBANDS: Yes, you must have one. A valid festival wristband is required to enter the Campground during the event.

PLEASE RESPECT THE WILDLIFE: We are fortunate to share this space with a menagerie of incredible creatures – this is their HOME! We have snakes, lizards, tarantulas, scorpions, turtles, fish and a wide assortment of birds living here. Let’s be mindful that we are their guests. Do not attempt to come in contact with any wildlife. Swimming in the lake is for the ducks and fishies ONLY. Please, no humans or trash in the lake. Please place all waste in receptacles provided throughout the grounds or take it home! If you happen to see a snake, scorpion or tarantula, please notify someone with a radio or someone at PRODUCTION. Our site crew will responsibly relocate our critter friends to the best place.

AMPLIFIED MUSIC: You can play music at your camp, (no sound systems or live amplified music) please be considerate of all your neighbors. If noise from your campsite is bothering your neighbors, you’ll be asked to turn it down. If your neighbors are bugging you, find one of the friendly Rangers and let them know, or report to the helpers at the Greeter Hut. If multiple complaints are received about your party, JTMF reserves the right to confiscate equipment and/or ask campers to leave.

GENERATORS: Use of whisper quiet generators is permitted in MOST areas of the campground between 8am & 10pm. Please be conscious of generator placement – make sure the exhaust is directed away from your neighbors and consider bringing a generator baffle box to muffle the sound. We reserve the right to ask you to turn off or limit the use of your generator if it is being disruptive to others. Portable power stations (i.e. EcoFlow, Jackery) are silent and often able to be powered with a solar panel. A There are several locations in the campground reserved for those who wish to camp away from generators.

EZ UPS/SHADE STRUCTURES: We regularly experience winds in the desert that EZ Ups are not built to withstand, they can break and turn into hazards. Please ensure any shade structures are secured properly with rebar or similar. We may ask you to drop shade structures/EZ ups if not secured properly or during high winds

CAMPGROUND FAQS

WHEN CAN I SET UP? You can enter the campground and set up any time during regular Box Office hours.

WHEN DO I NEED TO LEAVE? You must be completely packed up and cleared out of the campground by 11am on Monday. If you plan to stay after this time you must check in and pay for an extra night at the Campground Office (the ‘Boathouse’ by the lake) by 11pm.

HOW MUCH SPACE WILL I HAVE? Camping at the festival is on a first come, first served basis (communal festival camping). There are no reservations for physical camping sites (except for RV power sites with hook ups). You’re guaranteed at least 12’x12’ of space for tent camping. The campground will fill up, so cozy up to your neighbors. If you’ve spread out an area larger than 12×12, you might be asked to share space as more campers arrive. If you want to camp with friends, we encourage you to arrive together, as roping off areas and saving large spaces for latecomers is unfair to other festival-goers. If you’re saving a small spot for a friend or two, kindly confer with your neighbors.

WHERE DO I PARK? We have a day parking lot for general parking. You will need to purchase a Day Parking Pass for your vehicle. From there, it is a short walk to the campground.

CAN I HAVE MY VEHICLE IN THE CAMPGROUND? If you’d like to have your vehicle at your camp spot, you’ll need to purchase the appropriate Vehicle Campground Pass depending on the size of your vehicle. We recommend purchasing these ahead of time as they do sell out. Alternately, you can park in day parking and walk up into the campground with your gear. You can purchase all of these vehicle passes on our tickets page.

CAN I DRIVE INTO THE CAMPGROUND AND DROP OFF MY GEAR? Sorry, we do not allow you to drive in and drop off gear. The campground is a very short walk from Day Parking. Please plan with this in mind or make some new friends to help you load in!

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN TENT? You sure do! Please bring your own structure to camp in. Space is limited so please be mindful of your footprint.

IS THERE A RV CAMPING AREA? Yes, any RVs without a reserved site will be directed to our dry RV camping area. It is first come first served, you will be placed as you arrive.

IS THERE A FAMILY CAMPING AREA? Yes, for families with children, located in the NW corner of the campground. This is a quiet zone after dark, and kids like to make noise in the morning. So if that doesn’t sound like your style, there are acres of other camping space where you can find your tribe.

DO YOU HAVE ACCESSIBLE CAMPING?

Yes. Please contact us in advance to arrange accessible camping.
