What started as a mixtape by Zebuel blending 70’s era Motown and Stax songs with southern trap music is now a full-blown headlining act and production team. Smoked Out Soul (S.O.S) blurs the line between a live show and a DJ party, bringing the bay’s finest musicians, producers, and DJs together to put a fresh spin on a classic sound. The result is tunes rooted in soul with a nod to the future. Smoked Out Soul aims to spread love through music, bringing you a classic and futuristic sound: “Old School Taste, New School Bass”.
Smoked Out Soul has taken the vibe they started as a weekly Thursday night party on the road, playing festivals and venues up and down the West Coast and throughout the country. They have played Bonnaroo, Lightning In a Bottle, Outside Lands, Symbiosis, and Joshua Tree Music Festivals along with club dates at Great American Music Hall, The Chapel, Rickshaw Stop, The Independent and more. Blending funk music from yesteryears with modern-day futuristic production, SOS features a high-energy DJ set with live horns, synthesizers, guitars, drums, and many special guests.
The Collective has also branched out and started a record label, which has put out two albums by ringleader Zebuel, multiple remixes and a compilation album that benefits the ACLU featuring artists such as Poldoore, J Boogie, Deejay Theory, Captain Planet, Kingmost, and more.
Stay tuned for a string of singles leading up to their debut album, SOS Electric, due to drop in October 2024. S.O.S. rock’d the festival here back in 2016, 2019 and 2022, and they’re gonna be coming in HOT in May to dance us UP.
