Fox McBride and James Golub of UNITED EARTH BUILDERS designed and created (with help from LOTS of friends from the festival community) the Earthen Benches in the music bowl.
This winter, they created
SANCTUARY on the north side of the lake, The SANCTUARY project was a true community-centric creation, sponsored by the
Joshua Tree Lake Campround, the
Mil-Tree Organization and the
JTMF family. Artists
Bobby Furst and
Brian Bosworth contributed amazing metal and ceramic details, created with over 50 volunteer artists.
Fox & James have been actively engaged in earthbag construction domestically and internationally for a combined 11 years since completing their training & apprenticeship at the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture in Hesperia, CA. They have worked together as integral crew members, supervisors, and consultants on commercial & residential projects alike, and have facilitated workshops of varied scope and purpose in the U.S. and abroad. United Earth Builders is based out of Joshua Tree.
